The biomimetic approach aims to restore lost tooth tissue using materials that most closely resemble its physical and mechanical properties. Primary teeth have a thinner enamel layer than adult teeth and are more susceptible to caries acids. New generation “Glass Hybrid” restorative materials combine the high chemical adhesion and fluoride release strength of traditional glass ionomer fillings with the aesthetic and mechanical resistance of composites. In pediatric patients, they bond directly to the tooth without requiring acid or bonding and without sensitivity to moisture. This shortens the clinical time, increasing child adaptation, and blocks the recurrence of caries under the filling thanks to the fluoride it releases. Furthermore, because the flexibility coefficient is very close to that of a primary tooth, filling fractures are minimized.
