Traditional 2D photographs, because they only show the face in a static, two-dimensional plane, cannot fully reflect the depth perception of teeth, lip support, and mandibular rotations during dynamic chewing movements. 3D Face Scanner technology, however, transfers the patient’s facial features, expressions, and lip volume during speech into a three-dimensional digital model. This data is precisely overlaid with digital jaw models obtained from an intraoral scanner using CAD/CAM software; thus, the dental technician can see from every angle how the teeth they have designed in the virtual environment will look on the patient’s face and how they will dynamically interact with the opposing jaw during chewing, minimizing the margin of error during trial sessions and ensuring a perfect fit.
