Pink aesthetics aim to create a harmonious arc between the crown lengths of the teeth and the gingival margins. In cases where root surfaces are exposed due to gingival recession or alveolar bone loss, and teeth appear asymmetrical and much longer than they are, free gingival graft or connective tissue graft applications become unavoidable. Micro-surgical grafts, usually taken from the patient’s own palate (palatal region), are sutured to the recession area in the recipient region to cover the root surface and thicken the keratinized gingival band. This operation not only makes the teeth look more symmetrical and aesthetic, but also eliminates dentin sensitivity in the exposed roots and creates a strong biological barrier that protects the tooth against future periodontal destruction.
