The success of implant treatment depends on the patient’s general health and the condition of the jawbone:
- Health Status: Diabetes, heart disease, and bone metabolism disorders do not pose an obstacle as long as they are under control. Smoking and heavy alcohol use can slow down healing.
- Bone Density: Sufficient bone height and width should be present; if insufficient, bone grafting (augmentation) may be necessary.
- Gum Health: Good condition of the gums around the implant and oral hygiene increase the success rate.
- Age Restriction: In young people in their growth period (males 18–20, females 16–under 18 years old), it is generally recommended to wait because the jawbones have not yet fully ossified.
