Holistic dentistry argues that every foreign material placed in the mouth (fillings, crowns, implants) affects the entire body’s immune system and overall health. In this context, an advanced laboratory blood test called the “Leukocyte Transformation Test” (LTT) is used to determine whether a patient will develop an allergy or sensitivity at the cellular level to the materials to be placed in their mouth. A blood sample taken from the patient is exposed to the components of the dental materials (titanium, acrylic, nickel, composite monomers, etc.) in the laboratory. If the patient’s leukocytes (white blood cells) show a tendency to multiply aggressively and react (transform) when they encounter these substances, it is understood that that material will trigger chronic inflammation in the patient, and it is eliminated from the list. Thanks to the LTT test, 100% biocompatible materials that are tailored to the individual and will not strain the immune system are selected.
